RWE secures Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Feasibility Licence
Kent Offshore Wind Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of RWE – a global leader in offshore wind – has been granted an Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Feasibility Licence in the Bass Strait off Gippsland, marking a significant advancement of RWE’s commitment to delivering renewable energy projects in Australia. This achievement was facilitated by the dedicated support and expertise of Energise Renewables, a boutique clean energy consultancy firm based in Australia.
The newly obtained Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Feasibility Licence underscores RWE’s support in building an offshore wind industry in Victoria. With this seven-year licence in hand, RWE is well positioned to develop their proposed up to 2,000-megawatt offshore wind project.
“We are delighted to announce the successful award of the feasibility licence, which represents an important milestone in our offshore wind journey,” said Neeve Hodges, RWE’s Head of Offshore Development Australia. “The guidance from and collaboration with Energise Renewables have been valuable in navigating the complexities of the Feasibility Licence Application process and positioning us for success in this critical phase of development.“
Energise Renewables, a company dedicated to supporting the offshore wind industry in Australia, played a key role in preparing Kent Offshore Wind’s Feasibility Licence Application. Energise Renewables provided bid writing and management services, as well as tailored technical expertise based on a deep understanding of offshore wind in Australia.
“We are thrilled to have supported RWE on this significant achievement,” said Adam Thyboe, Partner at Energise Renewables. “At Energise Renewables, we are passionate about advancing the transition to clean energy, and this partnership exemplifies our dedication to supporting industry leaders in realising their clean energy goals. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with RWE as they progress with their offshore wind initiatives in Australia.”
With the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Feasibility Licence secured, RWE is poised to continue deepening its renewable energy portfolio in Australia, contributing to global sustainability efforts which in turn create a positive impact on the environment and communities.
